Stop Trump and His Confederacy of Cruelty

Today, Trump’s shock troops killed another person in Minnesota. After the killing of Renee Good, I cannot trust federal government statements about the killing any more than I can trust what Chinese or Russian governments say about killing their own people.

Government-sanctioned killings and internments of “undesirables” and political prisoners is now an American reality. And look how we’ve been groomed for it after years of being force-fed one “new normal” after another.

This cannot become normal.

ICE troops are not so much “poorly trained” as they are “trained to act poorly.” If you think these are merely “patriots” defending themselves, then you have been lied to by Trump and his Confederacy of Cruelty.

All of us have to wake up! The crystal clear truth is this: the government is killing citizens with impugnity–anyone can be next.

To the majority of Idahoans who unfathomably still “approve” of Trump according to polls, you are being lied to. To the rest of us who fear the rise of a tyrannical regime: it has risen.

We have time. Of course we have time. But that time is NOW!

Take heart that our courage, our intellect, our fierce love of freedom is stronger than Trump and his Confederacy of Cruelty.

It’s no weakness to feel confused and frightened. The government is killing Americans, the final ugliest violation of our inalienable rights. The stakes are as high as can be. Only fools would not be afraid.

For now, I suggest this action, let’s stop being a “red Trump” state. Let’s demand our Legislature defy Trump and the billionaires funding this insane fascistic fantasy.

Let’s make our Legislature tell the federal government that Idaho is linked arm-in-arm with law abiding, freedom-loving Americans everywhere. Let’s demand that our governor stop working with ICE. History tells us that appeasing a tyrant is more dangerous than defying a tyrant. Let’s demand that Gov. Brad Little borrow a backbone and stop groveling to Trump.

Let the nation and world know that we Idahoans choose to stand tall, defiant and free, eyes open to truth, resolute against this bold Confederacy of Cruelty. We stand armored by courage and kindness and love. We stand now, or never.
