ECONOMIC GROWTH
Idaho has shown great potential for growth. In order to sustain that growth, focusing on small business and fostering programs for businesses is crucial.
As system works for everyday Idahoans, not billionaires
A strong economy relies on quality education and a solid workforce
Health care must be affordable and accessible to all Idahoans
To succeed, businesses need a stable tax structure
Small businesses must be able to compete to succeed
Fair treatment of employees and paying a living wage is critical
PUBLIC EDUCATION
The Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution requires equal protection under the laws, so when a state provides public education, it must provide equal access to a quality education to all citizens.
Repealing the school voucher scheme
Better funding for education in Idaho
Higher teacher salaries to maintain high quality teachers
Funding rural school districts
Funding for Pre-K programs across Idaho
Funding for full time kindergarten
Funding for post high school programs, community college, and universities
Access to broadband for all schools and students
Access to information based on science, truth, and history
PUBLIC LANDS
As a member of the Idaho Land Board, the Governor is charged with the very important task of protecting and preserving our great public lands with the state of Idaho.
Public lands must stay in the hands of the public, not privatized
The wilderness and recreational areas, public lands, rivers, and wildlife define Idaho
Preserving open space and natural resources is a top priority
I will fight to maintain access to public lands for recreation, hunting, fishing
We must protect our Idaho heritage for future generations
CIVIL RIGHTS
I believe in protecting civil rights and I will be a champion for citizens, ensuring that all of their rights are protected and every person is entitled to equal justice under the law. When we protect our civil rights, we are protecting our freedoms.
Freedom from excessive governmental overreach
Freedom of speech
Freedom of privacy
Freedom of choice and bodily autonomy
Freedom of and from religion
Freedom to love and marry whomever we choose
Freedom from discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin
IMMIGRATION
We are country of immigrants
We should require people entering our country to abide by our laws.
People who enter our country illegally should be treated humanely despite having broken immigration laws.
Violent criminals should be stopped from entering and deported if they succeed in entering our country illegally.
The US needs immigrant workers and we should make sure we have simple and easy ways for them to work here.
We fall short of our democratic ideals when we allow scurrilous politicians to demonize immigrants for political gain.
The public is largely in agreement over issues surrounding immigration. It is the politicians who refuse to fix the issue because they would rather have us fighting than working together. Shame on those politicians.
REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS
Women have a fundamental right to bodily autonomy.
Women, not the government, should be able to make their own choices related to family planning.
The State has no business telling doctors what to do or making decisions for women.
If people have religious objections to a woman making her own healthcare decisions – from fertility treatment, to contraception, to abortion services – those objections can inform their church tenets, not the laws of the land.
Reproductive rights have become a proxy war for those who recklessly envision replacing our democracy with theocracy. This is about freedom. And women lost a great deal of freedom the day the Idaho Legislature told us that our bodies are the state’s property to do with as the state pleases.
We must reverse dangerous, coercive, and cruel laws. And, we must be clear-eyed in our understanding that the State that seeks to control the People will always see freedom as a threat.
With every right that is taken away, the State becomes emboldened and will never rest until all freedom is extinguished.
