Get to Know Terri Pickens
Terri Pickens is a fourth-generation Idahoan, born and raised in Pocatello. She graduated from Highland High School and went on to earn her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern California in 1994. Terri returned home to the University of Idaho College of Law, where she participated in the Idaho Law Review and Appellate Clinic, earning her J.D. in 1998.
After law school, Terri served as a Public Defender for Nez Perce County in Lewiston before moving to Boise in 1999 to be a trial attorney. In 2008, she founded Pickens Law, P.A., where she practices real estate litigation, construction litigation, and general commercial litigation. Terri is a member of the Idaho State Bar, Idaho Women Lawyers, and the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association. She is licensed to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Idaho and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Terri has tried cases in Idaho’s District Courts and argued appeals before both the Idaho Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit.
Deeply committed to service, Terri supports the Women’s & Children’s Alliance and volunteers with the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program in Ada County, representing children in protective cases. She received the Denise O’Donnell Day Pro Bono Award from the Idaho State Bar for her work with Family Advocates.
Terri’s leadership and professional excellence have earned numerous honors, including Boise’s Accomplished Under 40 (2010), Idaho Business Review Business Woman of the Year (2012), and Tribute to Women in Industry honoree (2013). Her firm was a finalist for the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year (2014). She is a graduate of Leadership Boise.
Outside of court, Terri is the mother of two children, Maya and Parker. They share a love for Idaho’s great outdoors—camping, fishing, rafting, skiing, and exploring wild places. From the Frank Church Wilderness and the Salmon River to the slopes of Bogus Basin and Sun Valley, Terri finds inspiration and balance in Idaho’s natural beauty.
Terri believes deeply in hard work, community, and preserving Idaho’s public lands and values for future generations. She is proud to call Idaho home.
