Press Release: Terri Pickens for Idaho Governor: A Clear, Better Choice

Terri Pickens filed yesterday to run for Idaho Governor. Gov. Little has shown Idaho what he values, and it’s not Idahoans. Pickens offers a clear, better choice.

Pickens said she will fight back the assault on our freedom from our government.

“Idaho’s governor praises federal agents when they bully, threaten, and arrest citizens. What happened in Wilder assaults the freedom of every Idahoan. To those who buy the lie that this government tyranny makes us ‘safer,’ you are being lied to by world class liars. They lie to amass power and steal your money. Governor Little is their enthusiastic Idaho stooge.”

Pickens will not cater to wealthy people and out of state interests. She will work to cut living expenses for workers and their families, with a keen focus on young people just starting out. She will make sure older folks aren’t taxed out of their homes. 

“Governor Little created a budget crisis by cutting taxes for rich people. Now, he’s saying, ‘ah, shucks, it ain’t my fault.’ His mismanagement has already killed people who couldn’t get mental health care. And, don’t expect the shortage of doctors to fix itself. Little is cutting wildland firefighters while there’s very little snow in the mountains and amid predictions of a brutal California-style fire season–along with threatening lives and property, this policy drives up homeowner insurance rates. Colleges and universities are threatened. Cuts to public schools are sure to come as Little protects a brand new $50 million program to funnel tax dollars to religious and private schools–a policy that Idaho taxpayers oppose. And why won’t Little increase the homeowner’s exemption? So his rich friends and CEOs pay a smaller share.”

Pickens said voters have the power to make the government serve them, not the other way around. 

“We are born with our freedom and we have to protect that freedom from politicians who misuse the power of government. Gov. Little is one of those politicians. I believe the government is created to serve the citizens; Gov. Little believes citizens serve the state. If you agree with him, vote for him again. If you value freedom, I am the change that Idaho needs.“
